Our Story

Born from loss,
built on care.

The Gentle Move began during the hardest season of my life — and became a promise to make someone else's hardest season a little easier.

Why We Started This

Sometimes the hardest part is simply knowing where to begin.

My father was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer on a Monday. Four days later, my almost mother-in-law passed away. In the weeks that followed, my husband and I got married, as we had planned — and only days later, my father was gone.

Almost overnight, we found ourselves grieving while facing the enormous task of packing, sorting, and moving both of our parents' homes.

I helped move my mother into a new house, and sorting through my father's office became one of the most heart-wrenching things I have ever done. We also packed her home with that same tenderness — making certain his family kept the possessions that mattered before the rest was respectfully donated and cleared.

Somewhere in the middle of all of it, I realized how overwhelming a home can become when grief is attached to everything inside it.

There are moments when even walking into a room, opening a drawer, or deciding what stays and what goes can feel impossible. Every box can hold a memory. Every object seems to require a decision. And when you're already emotionally exhausted, even the smallest decision can feel enormous.

So I stepped into the role I naturally know how to fill. I asked what needed to be found, what needed to be kept, and what mattered most — and then I handled everything else.

They gave the direction. I steered the ship.

I took as much of the emotion, logistics, and decision-making off their shoulders as I could so they could simply breathe.

“When you're frozen and broken, you don't need someone to feel it with you. You need someone to steer the ship.”
The heart behind The Gentle Move

That experience gave me a clear purpose: to make this difficult season easier for another family in any way I can.

When you're grieving, you shouldn't also have to face a hundred decisions about a home, belongings, donations, packing, moving, and what comes next. You shouldn't have to figure out where to start when you can barely bring yourself to start at all.

You need someone you can trust to simply handle it.

So that is what I do.

I take the decisions and logistics off your plate. I protect what matters. I handle what needs to be handled. And I care for your family's home and belongings as though they were my own.

My hope for every family I serve is simple: that you make it through this season feeling cared for, protected, and a little less overwhelmed — and that you never feel like you have to walk through it alone.
